Dr. Pirouz Daftarian, Head Scientist, Tumour Biology

Dr. Warwick Kimmins, President and CEO of ImmunoVaccine Technologies Inc. (IVT), is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Pirouz Daftarian as Head Scientist, Tumour Biology.
Dr. Pirouz Daftarian has been appointed effective July 1, 2004. Dr. Daftarian was our 1st ranked candidate from 256 applications, and joins us from the Beckman Institute in California. IVT appreciates the assistance provided by ACOA under the Innovative Skills Development Initiative (ISDI) Program which provided support for Dr. Daftarian’s relocation expenses and salary in the form of a non-repayable grant.
Dr. Daftarian received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Ottawa in 1997. He did his fellowship in Immunology/virology and Cancer at the Childrens Hospital, University of Ottawa and BC Children’s Hospital of UBC. In April 2002, Dr. Daftarian began working at the Laboratory for Vaccine Research in the Beckman Research Institute of The City of Hope, Duarte, California. Dr. Daftarian has presented internationally on vaccine and immunology meetings. He has also published in peer reviewed manuscripts, and abstracts in scientific journals in the area of vaccines for Cancer, CMV and HIV as well as HIV immunopathogenesis.
